Converting an existing Magnetic Marker into a Neo-Marker

For those of you who would like to have all of your magnets behave the same manner; we have created a conversion kit for you. The kit contains some of the new Neodymium magnets and some small rubber washers to hold them in place. With a little care you can dissemble the old pieces and replace the old magnets with Neos.

Conversion Process

The old markers can be dissembled in a variety of ways, but the one we have the most success with is to use an Xacto knife to carefully pry open the pieces.

Our lawyers tell us to remind you that you are doing this at your own risk and that we are not responsible for any of your actions in this procedure. So if you are not handy with an Xacto knife, please disregard this suggestion.

But if you are in fact competent and accept full responsibility for your actions – thereby admitting that we are again in no way responsible for injury or death resulting from such actions – then and only then may you watch this video and see if you want to attempt this obviously death defying stunt.

Instructions

1. Place original marker on flat surface with Alea Tools logo facing up.

2. Slowly and gently force the tip of an Xacto knife into the ridge circling the edge of the marker.

3. Slowly pry the logo-piece up and out.

4. Place a Neo magnet into the center of an included rubber washer.

5. Place the logo-piece logo-down on the flat surface.

6. Place the assembled washer-neo into the center of the piece.

7. Press the other half of the piece down over the logo-piece.

Ok – so if you watched that video, you see that this is in fact doable if you so choose. After doing one or two it goes pretty quickly.

You may also want to look at this video before starting. It shows a simple technique for keeping the polarity straight on the pieces.

Instructions

1. Place a marker or two that are already correctly oriented on a flat surface.

2. Place the empty logo-piece logo-side down on top of the stack.

3. Attempt to place the washer-neo assembly on top of the stack. It will automatically adjust.

4. Press the top half of the piece down over the logo-piece.

Hopefully this will help keep your pieces straight!
